Drum Lagging

Pulley Protection Specialists

Premium Drum Lagging to Maximise Belt Grip & Pulley Life

Drum lagging is one of the most cost-effective upgrades you can make to a conveyor system. A properly lagged drive
pulley dramatically improves belt traction, eliminates slippage, and protects the drum shell from abrasive wear —
reducing energy consumption and extending the service life of both the pulley and the belt.

Left unlagged or running on worn lagging, a drive drum forces your system to work harder for every tonne conveyed.
Belt slip generates heat, accelerates cover wear, and places unnecessary stress on motors and gearboxes. Our lagging
solutions address the problem at source, restoring efficient power transfer and giving your maintenance teams one
less failure point to worry about.

Polyurethane Lagging

Our polyurethane lagging delivers outstanding wear resistance and friction performance in standard conveyor
environments. Available in a range of hardness grades and thicknesses, PU lagging is ideal for drive, head, and tail
pulleys operating in dry or mildly damp conditions where long service life and consistent grip are the priorities.

Lagging Options

  • Polyurethane (PU): High-wear, high-friction lagging for standard drive and head pulleys.
  • Diamond-Pattern Ceramic: Maximum traction and self-cleaning performance for wet, muddy, or
    high-slip applications.
  • Plain Rubber: Cost-effective lagging for non-drive pulleys, snub pulleys, and bend pulleys.
  • Weld-On Ceramic Tiles: Individual ceramic inserts for extreme-wear refurbishment of
    existing drums.

Ceramic Lagging for Extreme Conditions

When operating in wet, muddy, or heavily contaminated environments, standard rubber and PU lagging can struggle to
maintain adequate grip. Our diamond-pattern ceramic lagging solves this with alumina-ceramic tiles embedded in a
rubber matrix — providing exceptional friction coefficients even when the pulley face is submerged in slurry. The
diamond pattern also promotes material shedding, keeping the pulley face clean and preventing carry-back build-up.

On-Site & Workshop Application

We offer both on-site and workshop lagging services. For planned shutdowns, pulleys can be sent to our workshop for
precision lagging in controlled conditions. For urgent requirements or pulleys that can’t be easily removed, our
mobile teams attend site with all materials and tooling to strip, prepare, and re-lag drums in situ — minimising
your conveyor downtime.
